New sprouts are found within the underground rizomes near the surface. The foliage is divided into small finn-like leaves. The fronds are yellowish to light green of color and can grow to15 to 40 cm. Adiantum chilense has a hard black colored stem. The kidney-shaped spores can be found on the edges and lower surface of the fronds.
