Common name: Ampe Height: 3m Growing: medium Foliage: evergreen / semi-evergreen Flowers / Fruits: n/a Site: sun to shade Soil: acidic to alkaline Irrigation: abundant Hardiness: hardy -15ºC Long description: Lophosoria quadripinnata, also known as ampe, many times mistaken to be a tree fern. Although this fern develops a small trunk thru the years, it is not a tree fern. This gorgeous fern is spreading vigorously by clumping and forming adventitious shoots. Lophosoria has large fronds, with very fine-textured leaflets. The fronds can reach a total size up to 2-3 m. It may occur that multiple trunks are developed by this tree-fern-lookalike! The unique fine-textured foliage and the clustering mountain-like growth, make this fern one of a kind !
